The UK’s number one grant giving animal charity, Support Adoption For Pets, is celebrating hitting a £10 million fundraising milestone and saving half a million animals since its launch in 2006.

In just eight years, the charity has provided financial support for 1,000 animal rescue centres and welfare organisations nationwide:

– Rehoming 375,000 small animals
– Paying 20,000 kennel fees
– Purchasing 40 animal ambulances
– Supporting 85 new building projects

To mark reaching the £10 million milestone, Support Adoption for Pets, has launched a campaign to find ten charities to receive a share of a £500,000 donation fund. Animal charities big and small are eligible to nominate themselves to receive a £50,000 grant. Founded in 2006, Support Adoption For Pets has helped 1,000 rehoming centres and animal welfare organisations across the UK in addition to running dedicated rehoming centres and fundraising campaigns in 350 Pets at Home stores.

Amy Wilson, charity manager at Support Adoption For Pets commented, “We are overwhelmed to have reached the £10 million milestone in just eight years. When the charity launched back in 2006 we could only begin to imagine that we would become the UK’s biggest grant giving animal charity.

“The money that we raise via our various fundraising drives and campaigns within Pets at Home stores plays a vital role in supporting animal welfare organisations or all sizes right across the UK.

“From well-known organisations such as Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, which has just been awarded £120,000 to build a new Lost and Found centre, to smaller rescues like the Animal Rescue Charity which received £10,000 for a new animal ambulance, we are dedicated to giving abandoned and homeless animals a second chance at happiness.

“Britain is full of pet lovers and it’s really important that they don’t forget that there are thousands of animals in rescue centres up and down the country, from puppies and kittens to golden oldies, who are looking for a new home and a family that will love them. We hope that the work we do helps not just support the animals ahead of rehoming but also raises awareness of the pleasure that can come from adopting a pet.”

In addition to running fundraising campaigns, Support Adoption For Pets also manages dedicated rehoming centres in 350 Pets at Home stores.
