Editor’s Letter – January 2026
Happy New Year from all of us at Pets Magazine!
In this issue, we go deeper – into winter’s heart. ❄️
We begin by looking to the stars in Paws & Predictions (p.4), asking what January might hold for the animals we hold dear. Then we join the “Cat Lady” herself, Katie Gwilt, on the road (p.22), where curious kitties find freedom and joy beyond the front door in The Cat’s Whiskers.
In our New Year podcast special (p.8), broadcaster Carole Malone introduces us to her beloved pooch Murphy, while our guest expert Angela Day shares her insights on the joy and wisdom of older dogs in Golden Years (p.9).
One of my favourite pieces this month is Paw Prints & Portents (p.16) – an intuitive look at the deeper connection we share with our animals, and what they might be reflecting back to us as we step into 2026. If your dog seems more attuned than usual, or your cat has taken to curling up beside you at just the right moment… this one’s for you.
And finally, if you’re in the mood for gentle ritual, companionship, and a dash of starry symbolism, we’ve included a special January pet horoscope.
These are the stories that settle beside you like snow – soft, quiet, and full of meaning.
Wishing you and your pets peace, comfort, and joy in the new year ahead.
With love,
Marie Carter-Robb
